Geneva, the second largest city in Switzerland, is located in a geographically unique place, just where the Lake Geneva empties into the Rhone River and the latter merges with the Arve River, which comes from the Mont Blanc Massif-La Jonction. The official language of this multicultural city is French, but English takes a close second due to the presence of many international organizations (e.g., UN, WHO, etc.). Geneva is most active on the scientific scene, not only due to the famous European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN), where the large Hadron Collider (LHC) is beeing built, but also due to the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), the University of Geneva and many companies. No surprise, strong colloid and interface science is equally present.

The city remains a continuous tourist attraction, due to its beautiful lakeshore with the famous jet d’eau, a magnificent old city with the St. Pierre cathedral, numerous restaurants, cultural activities, night life, and its proximity to the alps. We hope to welcome you numerous during the conference, and perhaps, a few days before or after as well.
